I spent this morning, like I do every other Tuesday morning, straightening and putting things away in preparation for the cleaning lady to come today.
In my world, having someone to come clean my house every two weeks is essential. Not only do I honestly need the help, it forces me every two weeks to put everything in its place, which is a wonderful exercise.
I learn a lot about our lives through this exercise. I learn what things are actually used. I see which things have just been sitting around the past two weeks.
Every two weeks I again realize that we have too much stuff. I would love to start clearing out right that second, but I have to get to work and so the task is left to another day.
My grandmother recently said to me, “I don’t know how you have anything left to give away. It seems like all you do is get rid of things.”
It is true. I always have a box in the garage which I constantly load things in to take to Goodwill. I don’t purchase a lot of things, yet the stuff just seems to multiply.
I am not sure how things multiply, but I am taking the bull by the horns and am going to start in one location – my closet. I have been thinking about doing Project 333 for some time but have come up with multiple reasons not to participate. The current session is already in progress, but I am going to prepare for a session that I am going to begin on March 1st and will then run through the end of May.
I am excited about this adventure and what makes it additionally great is that I won’t need that clothing line item in the budget for three months! Woo Hoo! I will be wearing what I have and Project 333 will keep me from wanting more or different.
