I am continuing to go through my closet. It is a slow process. I have so many nice things and so many things that I feel badly that I am not wearing. I am really thinking about each item and asking myself if I am truly my best self in each item. More often than not, the answer is no.
I took two bags of things to Goodwill today, but I have such nice things I hate to just drop them off at Goodwill where I will never know if they make it to the rack or find another home again.
I ran across one suit that I have never worn. It was actually the suit my sister wore to interviews when she got out of college in 2001. It is a classic piece and in perfect condition. I have hated to get rid of it, but I can’t wear it because it is not petite. After hanging onto it for all these years, it is time for this suit to find a new home.
I emailed all of the women at work to offer the suit to them. The alumni director emailed me back and told me that the Alumni Association is collecting dry cleaned gently used women’s clothing for Dress for Success at the Women’s Luncheon, which is next Tuesday. I will see if anyone else is interested in the suit, but if not I will take it to the luncheon. Even if I don’t take the suit, I will be taking other things.
I feel so much better about getting rid of my nice clothes. They will be going to an organization who will put them to good use. I am sure it will cost me a small fortune to have everything dry cleaned, but it is so worth it.
This is just a small example of God at work. He knew I was struggling with getting rid of these clothes and He presented me with an opportunity to put them to good use. God is good!
